Something creepy...

Has been going on in my house!

For those of you who dont already know this about me...Im a bit haunted. As in poltergeists, ghosts, apparitions, spirits, what have you. I swear Im not crazy, but I have about a zillion ghost stories from personal experiences. And its always super annoying to me when I try to tell someone about it right after it happens, like when I was in high school and I would tell my parents that uh, a ghost had just sat on the end of my bed...and they just wouldnt believe me. I swear its true. Who makes that kind of weirdness up? Better yet...who wants to be that crazy? Not me I tell you. But alas, it cant be helped. I am haunted.

So a few weeks ago (before Christmas) I started feeling that same old creepy sensation that I wasnt alone in my house. I was in my bedroom upstairs folding laundry, brigitte was down for a nap in her crib, and out of the corner of my eye I thought Brigitte was standing in my doorway! I looked up - and of course no one was there. So I went back to folding clothes. A little while later - again, I swear there was a child standing in my doorway! I couldnt see it - but it was there! I got up and actually looked in Brigittes room just to be sure that she was in there sleeping. Of course she was, and I told myself I was crazy and went downstairs. Its the same feeling you get when a REAL child is standing silently beside you and you know they are there before they say a word. Its just like that. Only when you look - you cant see them. But you know they are standing there.

Thinking Im crazy????? Well....Thankfully Gabe can vouch for me this time. We had just turned out the light last night going to bed and we were talking about our weekend plans, when all of a sudden out of nowhere we hear this noise. It sounds like a child singing. We both assume its Brigitte talking in her room (because she is loud and often talks to her 'baby' in the night) but when we stopped talking and listened harder, we realized that it was a different child. SINGING.

Totally creeped out, we finally realize that it is a toy of Brigitte's that she got for Christmas. Its downstairs. ALONE. UNTOUCHED. SINGING.  (The musical cube from Grammy). Its a large toy, and you have to physically touch the sides of it to make it play a song. It was in the living room, and Gabe came downstairs to assess the situation. He said it was sitting there on the hardwood floor. No other toys were touching it or even near it. It had sort of just been left out when we put everything else away. And it was playing a song.

When he came back up to our room and crawled back into bed we were sort of nervously laughing about it...and he said to me "that is so weird! Because earlier tonight when you were at Young Womens I was standing at the kitchen sink and the pantry door closed all by itself. It didnt slowly drift open - it closed shut. Hard enough to hear the click. It totally freaked me out."

So yeah. Its not just me. It appears that we have a little ghost friend living in the house. Gabe suggested we give it a name.....maybe I will let him. Since naming the baby is off limits to him. Thats it. Ill let him name the ghost child. Everyone: Meet Rockwell.

So tell me Im not the only one who has weird things happen to them!!! You have all had singing toys, shutting doors, and feelings of being watched! Right? RIGHT? These incidents were mild in comparison to things that have happened in other houses. I thought we had escaped being haunted here....But I guess   they are everywhere! watching! and waiting.....

Um, what the disturbing?! I'm so glad you posted this on a night that Chuck's not at work; if I were home alone right now I would be hearing sounds left and right. Here's hoping Rockwell is a friendly ghost, a la Casper!

Sadly, I myself have been party to much of the hauntings. I think the Indian Burial Grounds of Fort St. latched onto you.

THen they folded the laundry at Ridgecrest.

And now they're playing music.

Indians are a very delightsome people.

I don't think you are crazy! Things like that happen to me all the time, and I never say anything because of the 'people will think I am crazy' thing. My house was haunted growing up, so I think those ghosts just follow me where ever I live. He he.

Yes, I too have been privy to your other worldly premonitions. Spooky, and yet so cool. :)

holy crap! before i had my little girl and my son was young enough to still take naps, i would be sitting on the couch (folding laundry or what have you) and i SWEAR i would hear someone walking down the stairs. you know, the soft carpet sound and pants rubbing together. i would always thing it was my son, but he would be sound asleep!! freaky! now neither of my kids nap and it's too darn loud in my house, that if he's still here i don't hear him anymore.

I don't think you're crazy, I've had my share of moments I don't normally share because even I think I sound crazy when I tell them! I watched Paranormal Activity last night.. FREAKY!

What the fudge. You are totally freaking me out. Scott is going camping tonight and I'm going to be all alone. Thanks a lot. J/K. Well luckily I don't have a 6th sense but I totally believe in it and that's why it freaks me out!

I've heard these ghost children have been considered to be the little spirits of your future children and that they only long to be in their mothers presence and all they can do is watch over you until they get here, if that makes you feel a little more at ease. Maybe your the only one that can relief that spirit, if it not be your future child, through temple work or genealogy or baptisms for the dead. hmmmmm? i wonder.
I'm Gabes cousin by the way. ;0)

This is so crazy! I just got back to town this week and a few of my friends in our neighborhood have been having similar experiences with a little ghost boy!One couple even say they saw him. Needless to say, I have slept with the light on for the past 2 nights. No lie.
Annnd last night we had the same thing happen with one of Brody's toys that makes noise going off randomly in the night without anyone touching it. Luckily, Shannon's comment above makes me feel better about it.

That is creepy. Gabe's door experience was almost crazier.

I remember when the lights would go on when you went in and off when you left your room in the SD condo? Remember that?!

PS: I have totally felt ghosts, so I definitely understand the creepy vibe.

i have a touch lamp in my room, and as you touch it one, two, three times it gets brighter and brighter until on the 4th one it shuts off again. when i get home from school or practice or whatever, it will sometimes randomly be on the first light setting, as if someone touched it once and just left it there...dimly glowing =) i want to hear more of your stories when my mom isn't around!
