27 weeks....

I had another Doctors appointment today and was forced to drink a hideous sugar tincture and then get my blood drawn by a blind Filipino girl with HUGE CLUMSY HANDS! I know gestational diabetes is important to screen for - but my heck, what ever happened to the finger prick method??? I bled like a hemophiliac  for 10 minutes afterwards.
My Doctor got called in on a c-section, so I only met with the nurse for about 10 minutes. She measured the baby - apparently my uterus sits about 2 inches above my belly button now - which shocks me since I never feel the baby up that high. And then we listened to the heartbeat with a doppler ( it was in the 140's - BOY).  We have our own doppler at home, which is a lot of fun, and nice to have when I want to be paranoid and double check to make sure the baby is still alive!!!

I havent gained any weight in the last 4 weeks - which is a miracle. I put on more than
enough the month before so it lasted through this month as well. She said everything looked good, and to come back in 3 weeks right at the 30 WEEK MARK. This used to seem like such a far away goal. To grow a human for 30 weeks...is tough. And it means you have less than 10 weeks left (hopefully!) I cant believe we are on our last trimester. I FEEL LIKE CELEBRATING!

Alas, there are some truths about being this far along that are terrifying. I can no longer shave accurately, or paint my toenails. And forget bending over. I feel tired all day long, and alas, the hormones are RAGING! I measure my 'good weeks' in terms of how many times I have an irrational breakdown. Last week..not so good.  I had 3 random crying spells. This week, Ive only had one (but its only wednesday, so we'll see how it turns out!) Its really sad that I have no control over what throws me off. It can be nothing and everything all at the same
time. Mostly, its over feeling so unattractive and disgusting, coupled with hideous heartburn and migraines. Poor Gabe. He just puts me in the bathtub and turns on the dvd player. I cant count how many times hes stayed up long into the wee hours reassuring me that it will all be over soon....

Im bracing myself for the home stretch. Its been a hideous experience so far, and I know this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the weeks ahead. Thankfully, Ive discovered Wendys junior hamburgers for 88 cents. They will see me through I just know it.

Here are some pics of 27 week old babies. So nice to know they can LIVE this early.

Steve will not let me get a doppler. This may be because I was a stress case even before pregnancy, and having the responsibility of growing our child may have put a little more strain on the paranoia. But still.

Also, I thought I was immune to mood swings. Ha! This is not so! I now find myself tearing up over everything except things that are actually emotional. Hallmark commercial where son travels miles and miles to see his mom? Nothing. The catchy, upbeat, trumpet-laden song "New York, New York"? Waterworks. ...what??!?!

It is hideous, but it is almost over...and the prized baby will make it pretty much worthwhile...

27 weeks is still so tiny.
Where did you find a doppler? Gosh, that sounds like it was pricey. But I probably would of wanted one too if I knew where to get them.

We had a good time last night. Thanks for the yummy Mexican food! Christy, you are a beautiful pregnant mommy no matter how that little one inside makes you feel. Get some good relaxation. You are almost there.

Wow! 27 wks. Being the with without the baby in my tummy and without the heartburn and psychotic spells, this sure has gone by fast. You are so close to the end!!!

WHERE are these 88 cent burgers again...Wendy's you say?? I am thinking that trend has not quite made it's way to San Diego, cause the price of EVERYTHING actually just rose to "Astronomical" on the San Diego Scale...hmmm. So, is Arco nice this time of year, we need a cheaper place to live!
P.S. you are a HOT 27-weeks-pregnant woman, so get used to it :o)
