This is Intervention C.H.R.I.S.T.Y

I need help!!!!

I feel so huge I want to die!!! I have no energy and I swear my thighs get bigger every morning! I need some pregnancy tips on how to feel better. Ill take herbs. Ill do voodoo. Just tell me what works!!!!

I wasnt a big workout junkie before the pregnancy, as I controlled my weight by living on diet coke, sushi, and maverick bread (the diet of champions!). But now with this dang baby - Im off the caffeine, having an aversion to seafood, and unless the bread is soaked in vinegar and layered with blimpie fixins--I just cant want it!!! I'm considering drastic measures. Should I start exercising???

When they put me on bedrest, I obviously wasnt allowed to go out for a jog. Now its probably fine to exert some energy IF ONLY I HAD SOME! I seriously feel like I'm on Nyquil all day long. Did anyone else feel like that???

Anyway, here is my desperate plea - if someone knows some way to boost my energy, and curb my weird food cravings/aversions, Id really appreciate the magic secret! I need some sort of intervention to feel a little more in control of my crazy body! Is there some sort of pregnancy safe drink mix??? I NEED IT NOW!!!

Awww... poor Christy! I'm sorry, I don't know of any magic potion! Just remember that after it's done, you will get your body back!!! Make sure every morning you get ready for the day... get dressed, make-up on, hair done, and that will keep you at least feeling human! I bet you look beautiful... and I want pictures of the baby bump PRONTO!!!

So... I've READ that exercise will actually make you feel better. Steve takes me for walks (yes, like a puppy) in the evenings after work, and though I feel wiped out after, it is the good kind of wiped out, not the lame kind. I say just make yourself do something (low impact) and then you get extra whine-time. ;-)

It's so hard. The things we do for these sweet little babies! Be careful about exercising if you've been on bed rest... yoga of all things sent me into preterm labor. All I can say is embrace the new curves, love 'em while you got 'em. Too much resistance will just send you into the loony bin. I'm glad you are having a baby :)

Oh boy you are asking for adivise and I am here to give you some. First off, I'd bet you a million that you are Anemic! Have your blood tested. You probably already know this but Iron is the key to that. I had to take double doses of it both of my pregnancies. So if you do, remember your FIBER too, you'll be hating me if you don't. Second, walking is great excersize, don't overdo yourself. Thirdly, your body isn't yours for a while so you just have to deal. I hate being pregnant. I know there are special women out there that love it. I am not one of them. Just know this too will pass and you will be back to normal before you know it. Take advantage of your tiredness and get plenty of rest. A nap a day is wonderful. Love ya tons, let me know if I can do anything for you.

It's too bad you aren't loving every second of this amazing journey like I am...everything is so perfect and amazing when I'm pregnant...I love the miracle that is giving birth silently as well...And I especially love my amazing husband...

I had to channel a little Katie Holmes for all those craptastic pregnant women who actually do have amazingly wonderful experiences, and now I have to say: Are you kidding me with this post? As if there is some magical secret out there to curing pregnancy woes, but my last 3 times I've just chosen not to partake...that's like the part in Napoleon Dynamite when he asks to get picked up from school cuz his lips hurt real bad...and then when the answer is no, he asks if Kip can then bring him his chapstick instead...it just doesn't make sense. So sorry- you'll just have to be hideous like the rest of us non-pregnancy loving people. Oh wait, except you are barely out of the weight LOSING stage, so enjoy this time! It's all down hill from the point where you actually want to start showing...Neil Diamond sings it best: "Girl, you'll be a woman, soon... Soon...you'll need a man"...to put on your socks for you, and help you roll out of bed at 4 am to pee for the 20th time, and you'll especially need him to lie, lie, lie to you that you do not in fact look "ready to pop"...and if you're like one of your lucky readers, you might need him to walk you as well!

Sincerely,
Your amazingly non-joyous, non-pregnancy loving, non-secret knowing 9 months pregnant sister who is a health hazard in public because she's been declared "ready to pop" for the past two months.

Dear Wife-

What have I done to you?

Let me preface this with saying that I love my daughters and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to give birth to them. I recognize what a miraculous experience that was.
Now- honestly, pregnancy sucks. There are those people who aren't affected as much, who don't get sick, or uncomfortable, etc. For the rest of us, it is nine months of torture. The body image stuff totally was terrible. I hated not feeling like myself.
I always felt that walking helped me to feel better. I jogged a couple of times and ended up really straining my back so I don't recommend it. I have heard swimming is nice especially because you won't feel as big in the water- but who really wants to get into a swim suit?
Other than that, we just gotta suck it up until its over. Sorry I can't be more help!

So, I'm probably the worst person to be giving advice since I am the most non-athletic person in existence. But something that I think helped me feel more up beat & sort of in-shape were two things. First I purchased one of those pregnancy exercise DVD’s. The one I bought had a different work out for every trimester & I have to say the cardio workout in the beginning made me feel awesome after. I blogged about it so if you want you can look at it on my page. Second, during the last 3 weeks or so (I wish I had started sooner by the way) I went for walks. I walked my dogs, walked alone, whatever, I just walked & that kind of helped too. Now that's it's warming up outside walking will be alot easier for you than it was for me.
However, what I feel helped most was my DVD. It’s not the same for everyone but I swear it helped me. Sometimes I even got CJ to do it along with me (he’d be embarrassed if he knew I told anyone that but it’s true).

you are too funny. I KNOW you are skinny minny with the slightest baby bump. More energy? hmmmm. I never did the whole exercise thing, but I went shopping a lot! That always helps!

Christy,
Ok there are a lot of things that you can do to try to help (former health teacher here) but in the end it may not help because let's face it you are pregnant. First off you will get fatter in your legs and butt, it sucks, it doesn't make sense, but it's all part of the beautiful process. Ha. But seriously you need your sleep even if you feel like you are doing nothing you need tons of it. In my last trimester I needed at least 10 hours a night and I'm not kidding. So make sure you go to bed early and get your z's. Next make sure you are eating a healthy balanced breakfast, preferably one with some protein and fiber (like oatmeal with milk, add some walnuts for omega 3's). Breakfast IS the most important meal of the day. Next try to make sure you are eating healthy snacks often. Eat a handful of almonds every once in a while. Next mild exercise does a body good. When I was prego I would walk on my treadmill for 30 to 60 minutes at least four days a week. It does a body good. In the end do whatever feels right for you. Hang in there.
Mitzi
Oh and I would recommend taking prenatal vitamins, the good news is the baby gets all of the nutrients first so he/she will get taken care of, the bad news is if you aren't getting enough nutrients your body will suffer. Take a pill before you go to bed.
p.s. I know this won't make you feel better but you are the cutest pregnant girl ever. You are ridiculously skinny.
p.s.s I know this is record books long but another thing I hear because I would never know as I am addicted to sugar is to kick the sugar habit. Just a suggestion that I myself will never do. Although I hear that sugar zaps your energy.

Well...hmm I have been thinking about your problem Christy. I think what you need is a mild case of Gastroparesis. That way you wont have any appetite at all.
