Feeling Crafty?

So my mom has this incredible photo wall she made with her own bare hands! Its spectacular and spans the entire length of the dining room wall. She picked out a bunch of family pictures, turned them to black and whites, had them enlarged in various sizes, painted the glare off with mod podge, and then mounted them on black foam board in a cool design. Needless to say, it looks really neat and is great when people come to visit because they ask who all the cute babies are thus providing bragging time for their exceptionally good looking offspring :)

I decided to make 2 mini photo wall collages and put them up before Brigittes baby blessing. We had a bare spot in the corner of the living room that was really hurting for some decor. So with the help of Mom I ordered up the prints and gathered my supplies. I had NO IDEA how this 'simple' project was about to ruin my life! Somehow, we cut out the wrong size of foam board, or ordered the wrong size of prints, because we had mismatched squares! And when we ordered the prints, some of them came way too dark - like, Brigitte looked adopted from south america! After a couple trips to Costco spanning over a week, we finally got it right! Then the gluing started. (If any of you know me from my high school days...you may recall im somewhat of a mod podge savant). I didnt have enough space to lay them out, so my mom did all the gluing on her dining table that seats like 40. After they dried for a night she layered them in wax paper and I transported them home. Then I laid them out on the floor and tried for about 2 days to get them arranged in a design that worked. It was tricky. Gabe had sunglasses on in 4 of the prints so I tried to spread them away from each other. We had quite a few wedding ones, and the rest of Brigitte. The challenge was mixing up the syles. FINALLY, after a huge meltdown involving the incorrect use of a level...I placed a piteous call to mom and she came over and mounted the pics for me. I take my hat off to Sherry Bobbins: Photo wall extraordinaire! I think it turned out really cute. If any of you are feeling a touch crafty, this is a fairly inexpensive way to hang up some pictures in your house. But I warn you, its harder than it looks!

She is rather handy at just getting certain things DONE, which I admire. It looks really good!

Oh those look awesome! I have to admit, I have not hung one picture since we moved (granted we moved one week before Gracie came) but Steve has. Hopefully someday I will find time to do things like that. I love all your pictures of your cute girl, and her cute clothes, and her cute chins. Gracie currently has three chins, and she put on almost a FULL POUND of weight last week. I hope that translates to me losing weight. :) We are so amused watching her thighs grow chubby wrinkles, too. How on earth do they pull that off?
