Suggestions PLEASE!

Ok - so I can finally take a shower and do laundry once again. The 'Twilight' saga has thankfully come to an end. I read the final book yesterday and can I just say....Ive never been happier to finish a book in my life. It was so so stupid. Completely ridiculous. I loved it. Although I will never let my teenage daughter read it for fear that she will find a super controlling man and call it 'destiny' to marry him right out of high school. Did anyone else find Edward a tad bit....Abusive?Not that id mind it, mind you. Im just saying...

So now my Kindle is all fired up and ready to go. My only dillemma? WHAT NEXT??? I need a list of all your favorite reads. Something great you couldnt put down! Suggestions please!!! I havent read anything great since I got pregnant - so basically Im behind for all of last years new releases. But I DESPISE buying a book that sucks - so i only want to commit if it comes with a seal of approval from one of my fabulous friends! Dazzle me. Im counting on you!

Hi! First of all, I am here and I want to see you ASAP. I lost my notebook where I had written down all of my numbers when I switched phones so I lost your number. Please call or email me so we can get together! Second, I read the Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox recently and I really likes it. I think you might too.
I hope that helps, give me a call!

I really liked her other book, "The Host." It took me a little bit longer to get into it but once I did, I loved it and couldn't put it down. My other favorite is "Confessions of a Shopaholic"... it it hilarious and I think you would appreciate it as I did. Besides those two, I'm in the same boat as you... don't know what other book to get. Let me know if you read the Shopaholic book!

I'm not sure if you would like this but I thought it was pretty witty and intriguing, a light read but not empty...The No 1. Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. I liked it, however keep in mind that I only read the first twilight book and found it so weird and slightly masochistic/sensual that I couldn't keep going. Why, I ask you, is a LDS girl writing romance novels about vampires and underage girls? Weird.

Well I just have to say that I am an LDS girl in full support of vampires and underage girls. J/K but not really. So I know you are totally against fantasy but look at what happened with Twilight. HELLO!!! Two words...Harry Potter. It is so good. Don't be a hater and I know you think it's geeky but hey geeks are in. Well maybe not but whatever.

The 8, by Katherine Neville
will steer your brain far far from ed and his whinny mistress.

I also agree Harry Potter, they are so fun to read or listen to, have you ever heard the narrator, he's amazing!

Inkheart series by Cornelia Funke. Fun, fantasy books, that aren't too hard but not fast reads because you get into the story. I'm on the last in the 3 book series and really enjoy them!

Well I'm a big fan of anything Jane Austen. THAT'S romance. If the language is tough, I'd watch the movie first and then read. There's a movie for every book she's written. Some people have a hard time following the language. I love Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, and Mansfield Park. Emma is great too!

This isn't book related.. but..

Christy your comments always make me smile :)

I keep reminding myself of what you said in your blog about birth. Something along the lines of you'd give birth everyday for a month over being pregnant another day. That always helps to remind me there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Gone With The Wind is my absolute favorite. Have you read it? I just started the Other Boleyn Girl and like it a lot so far.

Good luck!

I thought The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls was superbly written. Not a romance novel (sorry to disappoint). But, a memoir of Jeannette's crazy & fascinating childhood. Enjoy!

I agree with the glass castle & all of the shopaholic books. Jessie & Heather got me into the world of Sophie in shopaholic-just a fun read. Steve made fun of me and wants me to read a grownup type of book now. I loved all the Twilight books as well.

I am in full support of Maren's suggestion as well as her distaste for Twilight. I too, only consumed the first book and I felt like it was telling 15-year-olds to be weak and subservient to men who want to bite them...my own issues I'm sure.
One of my all-time favs is "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver (and "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamante, but we share that obsession). Harry Potter is not a book series, it's a way of life, so be careful with that one...I am a self-confessed "Potterist" I am actually thinking about going inactive for it.
Miss you much lady!! Come visit and bring that baby soon! Oh, and Brigitte can come too :o)
